The “Pureness” Launched By Sony Ericsson: Sequel To Xperia

Monday, November 23rd, 2009

Sony Ericsson Xperia PurenessSony Ericsson is now the hottest thing this quarter, with the launch of its Xperia line, It is sure setting the standards. And now with the announcement of the Android-powered X10, It is giving other Mobile phone companies a run for their money. This time, it is the high-design Xperia Pureness which opens for purchase at Selfridges next Tuesday. The Xperia Pureness is tagged “the concept phone of all concepts”.

Xperia Pureness is made from a very light plastic and it is half black in colour and half transparent. It possesses minimal number keypad and is excellently tactile. The display can be seen through until the mobile device is switched on and instantly a coloured backlight comes up. You have the opportunity to select a back light colour of your choice from blue, green and a couple of others. The device also has an old-school pixilated display.

It is a very tiny phone with dimensions of 102 x 43 x 13 mm and has an unbelievable retro look with almost no features. The device can be used for Talk and Text and since it is made by Sony Ericsson, its music production is off the hook with “MegaBass” facility and new songs can be identified through the TrackID. Sony Ericsson has shunned the urge to pimp this device and even a wee Cybershot isn’t available. It is 21st century compliant and can be used online for email and even synchronizing with Microsoft Exchange.

Basically speaking, The Sony Ericsson Pureness is just a cool looking phone and that may just be the catch. It is only a limited edition and there are only a few hundred units available at a sultry price of £600. The Pureness comes with “Xperia Services” phone support and there is an instant replacement for any that stops working. It also possesses “Pureness Concierge” which can be used to obtain a booking at any event, restaurant or even a health club.

The Sony Ericsson Xperia X5 is a Novelty

Tuesday, November 3rd, 2009

Sony Ericsson Xperia PurenessNo really, it’s a novelty item. The phone has a transparent display. That is just hard to take seriously. Seen the unboxing video of the X5 yet? This device is as real as it gets but its there. Now, there really is nothing ‘wrong’ with a mobile phone with a transparent display. Practicality, however, is strongly lacking in this device. I hardly doubt that screen will withstand the typical wear and tear and average mobile phone goes through. The first comment to say that you should never subject the X5 to the same wear and tear that other devices goes through should realize that there is no way to do that.

You could go the extra mile and take of this mobile phone with all your heart, but that would mean putting all your attention to watching over your phone. That means you will be losing the convenience that you paid for if you had to mind something the whole time. But hey, here’s a good bet, plenty of people will still get this mobile phone, be amused with it for about a month or three, tops; then get a new novelty phone. That is just how it is with these kinds of devices anyway.

If it was not for the transparent screen, this would be another expensive music phone. My verdict is that if you have the budget for this; buy the manufacturer’s Walkman phones instead. Any of the devices in the Walkman series will provide you with practically the same functionalities that the X5 can, and at a lower price. I am impressed with the technology mind you, and there is a charm to whipping out a science-fiction-esque mobile phone in the middle of a meeting, but even novelty has its limits and I will not spend that much just for that.

Sony Ericsson Xperia PurenessA Little Vacation from Technology

Have you ever felt the need to go out and free yourself from everyday life? Have you ever experienced that feeling of being suffocated by your dependency on technology? If you have, then join the club. Like it or not, technology has made so that people cannot escape it. It is everywhere and it is very, very exhausting. That is why the Sony Ericsson XPERIA Pureness is a very welcome sight for it allows people to get away from their dependency and have a little vacation from its overpowering grasp.

The Design

The design of this mobile phone is one that adds to the feeling of escaping the tension and chaos of technology and entering a feeling of calmness and serenity. Firstly, it comes with black keypads that only light up when touched. This means that it remains solid black, when on standby and thus, provides a sense of peace to whoever looks at it.

Its transparent screen mimics the calming effects of water. It does not bombard you with flashing lights and moving backgrounds; instead, it offers one a sense of serenity when looking at it.

The Functionality

This mobile phone also runs on the basics of “talk, text, time” philosophy. This means that it is focused on simplicity and only features the basest of functions. This allows one to treat this mobile phone for what it truly is, a gadget to help one’s life, not rule it.

People, for too long, have made their lives depend on their mobile phones. They bring it everywhere and feel empty and incomplete without it. This is also the source of their anxiety and exhaustion. That is why, this new offer from Sony Ericsson is so important, for it allows one to have a little respite from the pressures of life. We all need a little break now and again, and that is exactly what the XPERIA Pureness offers.
