Equalizers are the best way to tweak the sound settings on any device to increase your music listening pleasure. The new app is a standalone feature that actually alters the music playback capability of the phone itself instead of being connected to a device. This means that all audio to be played on the smart phone will be using the equalizer settings. For the Vivaz, which will be getting Spotify, it also means that the EQ settings will affect the playback of music streaming. For users who are not too keen on making their own settings, there are presets that can be used for various preferences.
Sony Ericsson’s Satio has been at the hot seat last year thanks to a major problem with the device’s firmware. The phone was prone to powering down and freezing, which saw the device pulled out of shelve and even suspended from sales on major retailers. A major patch that fixed the problems was made shortly prior to the holidays, placing back the Satio on market. The device comes with a 12 mega pixel camera, an A8 600 MHz processor and a 3.5 inch touch screen display.
The Sony Ericsson Vivaz was originally known as the Kurara before it was renamed last month in when the phone was shown in Barcelona, Spain. This device stands out for its impressive hardware, and in particular, the 8 mega pixel camera with 720p HD video recording. The phone has a 3.2 inch TFT touch screen, a 720MHz CPU and the Symbian Series 60 5th edition operating system. A second version of the Vivaz named the Vivaz Pro is expected to be released later, the device will have an additional slide out keyboard.

Sony Ericsson Introduces Equalizer for the Satio and Vivaz
Friday, March 19th, 2010Satio Gets Much Needed Fix
Tuesday, December 15th, 2009
Sony Ericsson has been a little too slow to react on the Satio. When the device started receiving reports of slowdown and freezing, they should have done something about it right away instead of waiting for Phones4U and Carphone Warehouse to take the device out of shelves and suspend sales, at a month right before the holidays too.
Anyway, that is all in the past as Sony Ericsson has finally done something about the problem and a downloadable patch is already available online. Satio’s update, named the R1CA0337 has been released a couple of weeks back in order to fix the problems and in the process of fixing the bugs, SE has also found an interesting new feature to add: better battery consumption rates.
Going from bad to good is an improvement, but Sony Ericsson took the notch up and delivered one better. Considering that power drains was among the problems that gave Satio owners a headache, it is only fitting that the new improvements actually allows the device to use even less power. So far, no one has confirmed what the new battery life is on a full charge. But expect it to be really good as the patch has also been applied to the Aino and Yari as an update.
Another nice fix is the fact that the load times and menu run faster; slowdowns and freezing and major issues to have on any device. The new fix will not only bring things back to their normal speed, but it will actually enhance the current speed of the device.
The update has been available for quite some time now, and if you have not gotten it for your Satio, now is a great time to get the patch. It is currently available at Sony Ericsson’s Update Service and is considered a critical and important patch.
Sony Ericsson Needs Better Quality Control
Monday, November 30th, 2009
Sony, the big company as a whole, is major electronics giant in the world, and one might think that the merger with Ericsson to create a mobile phone company would be a great idea.
Right now, it seems like it would have been better if Sony just went solo and strapped mobile phone capabilities to their PSP series -it would be catchier to refer to the Walkman series just like what Apple did, but the company already tried that formula. True, Sony Ericsson does have a line of Walkman phones, but none of the devices actually felt anything close to the quality and polish that Sony has for their general line of products.
Anyway, just a while back, the Sony Ericsson Satio got pulled out of the shelves of Phones4U and from the Carphone Warehouse. That’s bad, considering that the company is already taking financial setbacks –they even shut down several major locations and just moved North American operations all the way to Atlanta. It also does not help that several other SE mobile devices, the K850i, W910i and the C902 were also pulled out due to software issues as well.
Now even the yet to be released Sony Ericsson Aino , is also getting suspended from being sold due to even more software issues.
The exact specifics of the problem have not been discussed in detail, but an official from Sony Ericsson states that the problem primarily lies with the touch screen interface. One retailer official was commented that there is a problem with using Bluetooth.
No specific details if and when the Aino will be released. Sony officials were quoted as saying that the issue will be resolved quickly and that the public should expect the Sony Ericsson Aino to be on sale in a matter days and not weeks.
Sony Ericsson Satio Being Pulled Out
Wednesday, November 25th, 2009
It is never a good sign when a device is pulled out of the shelves; and when you are talking about a device that was given a multi-million pound advertising campaign (to quote the source), that is just asking for heads to roll.
The big fuss this week over the Sony Ericsson Satio comes from the fact that retail version of the device have been suffering from major problems when it comes to the firmware and power management. People are complaining of lost ringtones, crashes, battery problems and consistent slowdowns that have been plaguing the stylishly cute phone.
Sony Ericsson is confident they can fix the issue, or so their Senior Marketing Manager, Richard Dorman says. Still, unless they promise a firmware update or hotfix, this could spell doom for the Satio this coming Christmas season.
What is interesting is that despite being pulled out of Carphone Warehouse and Phones4U, carriers such as Vodafone and T-Mobile still offer the device to their clients. Reportedly, the problem may have something to do with the ‘skin’ on the device interface. The custom skins used by the carriers seem to prevent the problem while devices that use Sony Ericsson’s proprietary skin are having the problems.
The Satio, problems aside, is actually a pretty impressive mobile phone. This Symbian S60 is packed with a touch screen interface that has been skinned with a more stylish look. It also boasts an impressive 12 mega pixel camera that promises very high quality images and excellent media playback capabilities. All in all, the phone would have helped Sony Ericsson’s weak sales –if not for this current predicament.
Sony has advised consumers to keep an eye on the official website for a release of a fix on the issue. For now, the two major retailers will be hold back sales of the device unless SE delivers a solid solution.
Sony Ericsson Satio Sequel Seen
Tuesday, October 27th, 2009
Having only just released the Sony Ericsson Satio, the company has already gotten back into working hard on the upcoming sequel, currently known as the Kurara.
The new mobile phone has just been seen in some very low quality pictures that have started to surface on the internet, and if you squint hard enough appear to show the device running under the Symbian S60 operating system from SE.
The rumours circulating around the internet also tell us that we can expect a big touch screen display of approximately 3.5 inches as well as an 8.1 mega pixel camera – although there is no strong evidence to back this up, so as is the case with most new handset rumours we will have to wait and see if Sony Ericsson decide to make any official announcements regarding the Kurara’s specs any time soon.
As a part of the company’s Entertainment United label, which is a pairing up Walkman and Cybershot, there will most likely be a Xenon flash in the new device, along with the stock standard 3.5mm headphone jack; neither of which is particularly thrilling.
It is likely that the Sony Ericsson Kurara will have support for a microSD card too, which will make it easier to manage your music and photos; it is useful, but like the Xenon flash isn’t exactly groundbreaking.
It is likely that the new mobile phone will be released in the United Kingdom early next year, although it will most likely be under a new name at this stage. We will update you on the specifications as more information becomes available and we know for sure that the phone currently known as the Kurara is indeed the Satio’s successor.
Sony Ericsson Satio – Available Now
Tuesday, October 13th, 2009
The Sony Ericsson Satio mobile phone has finally been made available to the UK public, bringing along with it the most technology the manufacturer has ever crammed into a single handset.
Currently the only carrier offering the Satio is Vodafone, although the Orange website has a large “coming soon” logo stuck on top of the handset, so that looks promising.
There is speculation that the other major networks, O2 and T Mobile, will also be selling the Satio, however there is no official word yet on when this might be happening.
The Sony Ericsson Satio boasts a 12 mega pixel camera with a Xenon and LED flash, as well as including GPS and a wide screen touch display; all running under the Symbian S60 5th edition operating system.
Vodafone is currently offering the handset on a relatively costly 24 month contract, at either £35 or £40 – although the mobile phone itself comes free.
There has been no official statement from Orange yet about what kind of price range we can expect for the Sony Ericsson Satio when it joins their line up, however it is probably going to be similar to Vodafone. If you want to buy the mobile phone sim free, it will set you back £515.
All in all the Satio is a nice mobile phone, and well worth it’s high price tag – although the key marketing point for the device has always been the 12 mega pixel camera, the handset has a lot more to offer users than just pretty pictures and a good looking body; it boasts all the features we have come to expect from high end smartphones, in fact, while we see the camera as an awesome extra.
The Sony Ericsson Satio vs The Samsung Omnia 2
Monday, October 12th, 2009
We’ve seen a whole host of mobile phone handsets hit the market this past fortnight, with two of the more interesting being the Symbian powered Sony Ericsson Satio and the Windows Mobile based Samsung Omnia 2 i800. We thought we’d compare the two models.
First up – Size
Both mobile phones are certainly on the larger end of the scale, but high powered handsets usually are. Samsung‘s Omnia 2 is larger in surface area, but thinner than the Sony Ericsson Satio, although not by much.
If one mobile phone were to be a winner in the size category, it would have to be the Satio.
Next up – Weight
This one is even closer than size, with the Satio weighing 126g and the Omnia 2 tipping the scales at 129g.
This makes the Satio our winner again, but only by a measly 3 grams.
Third – Screens:
The Samsung Omnia 2 might have a slightly larger surface area, but it needs it! The mobile phone boasts a whopping 3.7 inch AMOLED display, which by comparison makes Satio’s previously impressive 3.5 inch screen look mediocre, at best.
The Omnia 2 has a 480 x 800 resolution, also embarrassing the Satio, which only has a display of 360 x 640 – although the Satio wins in the colour area, displaying 16 million, while the Omnia 2 only shows 65,000.
The Omnia has to take this round, as the screen size and resolution are what we notice when using a phone – 16 million colours is nice, but much harder to utilize.
At the end of the day, the handsets draw. We can go back and forth with the Satio’s 12 mega pixel camera dwarfing the Omnia’s 5 mega pixels, the Omnia sporting slightly better battery life, and a competition about storage space.
The difference in operating systems will make each phone an icon in different markets – which frankly, is how it should be.
Pre Orders Open For Satio
Tuesday, October 6th, 2009
The Sony Ericsson 12MP Satio mobile phone will be appearing on Vodafone‘s line up later this month, and has just become available for pre order.
The premium handset, which combines all the best of Sony Ericsson’s Walkman and Cyber Shot lines, is seen as the beginning of a new era for the company, who will now be using an entirely re designed Symbian operating system to power the Satio model.
This latest mobile phone will be made available to customers for free, provided you are willing to sign up for a two year contract that will cost £35 a month, or alternatively an 18 month contract on which the Satio will also be free, but the contract will cost you £40 a month.
Sony Ericsson’s Satio mobile phone can currently be bought from various online stores Sim free for close to £500, and for that price customers will have to be really sure they want a high end Sony Ericsson mobile phone – you wont want to drop half a grand on something you think you could replace in just a few months time.
The impressive model features, of course, a 12 mega pixel camera, as well as a 3.5 inch touch screen display with a resolution of 360 x 640 pixels, built in GPS and Wi-Fi connectivity as well as having a very well designed, slick body.
Thanks to all it has to offer, (namely a camera that is capable of taking better shots than most people’s current digital cameras,) we are sure that despite the high price tag the Sony Ericsson Satio is going to be a very popular mobile phone.
Vodafone To Make 2 New Handsets Available
Thursday, September 24th, 2009
Come October the Satio will be available on Vodafone, followed by the Xperia in November.
Rumors have been circulating for some time now about the possible release dates of some of the most sought after mobile phones, with many speculating that many will be arriving in time for the holiday season; and it seems that they were accurate, at least regarding the Xperia X2 and the Satio. While no official announcement has been made yet, Vodafone is set to include both handsets on its network.
Sony Ercisson’s Xperia X2 mobile phone has been of particular interest for many people for months now, even though it was only recently that the company made an official announcement to confirm its existence. It is powered by Windows Mobile 6.5 OS, and is planned to show up on Vodafone’s network in November this year, already appearing on the carrier’s website.
Initially, the Xperia X2 was expected to arrive in November, so that is nothing new – however it is only now that we know which network we will be seeing it
on. Prior to the Xperia X2, Vodafone will be launching another Sony Ericsson mobile phone, the Satio, which will be the first handset on the network to have a whopping 12 mega pixel camera, and is expected to appear in October.
October will also see four other new mobiles land on Vodafone, including the highly anticipated, Android powered HTC Tattoo, the LG GM750 running Windows Mobile OS, the Nokia N97 and the Nokia E72, which will be running under the Symbian operating system.
We will likely hear more about price tags and exact dates as the launch approaches, so check back for details in the coming weeks.

Sunday, September 20th, 2009
The New Release
The Sony Ericsson Satio is the new offer from the mobile phone giant, Sony Ericsson. This mobile phone runs the Symbian platform (Symbian S60 5th Edition) but with an updated theme and user interface. This tablet phone has a young and trendy design with a functionality that matches it trendy appearance. Overall, this is a good release from the mobile phone giant. It is not necessarily game-changing but it will stand up and put a good fight. It is too early to tell if one can consider this a great phone, but it certainly appears it is headed in that direction.

The design of this tablet phone is very trendy. It measures 112 x 55 x 13.3 mm that comes in different colors. It also has a 3.5-inch, 16:9, resistive touchscreen that is put to good use by the enhanced multimedia functions, and camera features this tablet phone has.
