A New Slider Phone
The new slider phone from Nokia is certainly something special; it is simply a significant step forward for the mobile phone industry. Not only does it come with a sophisticated and classy body, it also has the brains to match. The new Nokia N900 will be bringing a new kind of mobile experience to users that should make up for its lack of extensive applications library (like that of the Iphone). It may not be the perfect phone out there but there will be no other mobile phone in the market that will allow you to do what this slider can; and that is multitasking like you were using a personal computer.
The Design and Features
The Nokia N900 comes in a 110.9 × 59.8 × 18 mm case that slides out horizontally to show a full QWERTY keypad. It also has a 3.5-inch, 800 x 480-pixel, touchscreen display that will suffice for viewing videos, photos and WebPages. The QWERTY keypad allows users to easily use the extensive email, SMS, and instant messaging features of this phone. The design is simple, yet has an understated sophistication that hides a plethora of features and applications. It also has good multimedia features, a wide range of connectivity, 5.0-megapixel camera that is packed with features of its own, a Mozilla-based browser, AdobeFlash 9.4 support and other applications typically seen in smartphones.
Multitasking Power
But the real feature of this slider phone is its use of the its Meamo software (Linux) that allows it to run multiple applications at the same time, much like one would in a personal computer. With the addition of the OpenGL ES 2.0 graphics acceleration and ARM Cortex-A8 processor, Nokia has made multitasking a fast and smooth experience. Thus, running applications all at once will not lead to lags and hanging but a nice and fluid experience. Through the dashboard, switching applications is also a breeze truly giving it the personal computer experience in a mobile handheld gadget.
Nokia N900 Links:

Nokia have come earlier than expected with their official announcement of the N900. The N900 is the latest phone Nokia have lined up in their Nseries of internet tablets. Making a departure from the more familiar Symbian OS usually found on their handsets, Nokia has instead opted for the Linux-based Maemo 5 that is already causing a storm. Nokia has stated that they do not intend to do away with Symbian but that their use of Maemo is merely an effort to cater to different market needs.
There has been much talk about a rumoured
At the same time more news has emerged about another new Nokia phone that may even overshadow news about the N97 Mini. The Nokia N900 is a new tablet-form phone that will come with the same slide out QWERTY keypad functionality of the N97 and N97 Mini. However, Nokia will be making a departure from Symbian with this phone and instead be using Maemo 5. The N900 is also thought to have a 5 megapixel camera and 32GB memory. Although Nokia have not said much about the N900 so far it does appear to be in its latter stages of development and an official announcement is likely to be made some time soon. With the interest that is already growing around the N900 it could end up being one of the more popular releases of the year.
