The Nokia E75 is a nice mobile phone; it has a touch screen and physical keyboard making it perfect for plenty of business related functions. For owners of this nifty little Nokia, here’s good news, there is a firmware update available and will make the E75 even better.
The firmware update is pretty huge, at over 150MB; version 201.12.01 can be quite a download, so only try getting this when you have a very stable and fast download speed.
Anyway, for those who are ready to take the plunge (and we advise that you do, the updates are truly worth the download), the new version will not only add new features to the E75, but it will also improve the performance of the device as well.
For those of you who have read that the gap between the E75 and the E72 is too narrow for E72 owners to upgrade; that used to be entirely true. With the new firmware update for the E75 however, the number of additional features increases the gap further, giving excellent application support and functionality to the phone.
The update brings quick shortcuts to MySpace, Facebook and YouTube -making browsing a whole lot easier. Sources also say that the Ovi Contacts have been integrated to the device. Performance wise, the phone UI now runs faster –and in particular, the contacts page, the calendar and the browsing of web pages have been improved by the update.
Also added are fixes to some bugs in the calendar functions. Client functions such as N-Gage, Share Online and Nokia Messaging have all been updated as well. Quickoffice now supports Office 2007 files.
The UI speed of the E75 is pretty decent by default, but the upgrade makes it so much smoother that the extra speed is more than enough reason to update.

Tuesday, December 8th, 2009EISA Best European Phone Awards 2009/2010
Tuesday, August 18th, 2009
The European Imaging and Sound Association has just finished dishing out awards to what it considers to be the best phones in a range of categories on release in Europe. The awards ceremony was judged by representatives from over 50 of the top tech magazines across Europe, asked to give their own expert opinion on which phones deserved the illustrious titles.
The award for best camera phone was not given to the Pixon 12 as expected but another Samsung device, the i8910 Omnia HD. While the Pixon 12 had been noted for its exceptional camera that comes with 12 megapixels (as the name suggests) and a wealth of other features, the Omnia HD managed to bag the award due to its video capabilities. With 8 megapixel video and 24fps it is one of the only phone cameras around that can record in HD.
Nokia bagged the award for Best Business Phone with their E75. The E75 had been praised for its robust build quality and durable battery life making it ideal for the professional on the move. The E75 had been able to handle just about any business related task that had been thrown at it making it ideal for the business user.
The Best Music Phone of course went to Sony Ericsson with their W995. Sony Ericsson has a long business history of working with music entertainment dating back to the early 1980s with the Walkman, and even earlier. It is no surprise that they should transfer this knowledge to their phones although the W995 is perhaps not the most feature packed phone in terms of music. Sony Ericsson had been praised however for bringing such a wealth of features to the public for such an affordable price.
The award for Best Smartphone went, unsurprisingly, to the much hyped iPhone 3GS. The award was given to the shiny Apple device despite the best efforts of competitors to be the company that comes up with the highly anticipated ‘iPhone Killer’.
