Sony Ericsson’s New Fashion Phone – the Jalou

Sony-Ericsson-JalouHot on the heels of the recently launched Xperia and Satio handsets, it looks like there’s another exciting new mobile phone in the offing from Sony Ericsson.  This time around, the long anticipated wait from months of speculation will end with the release of the Sony Ericsson Jalou.   It’s a fashion phone in a compact clamshell form factor.

Feature Highlights

The Jalou is a pretty petite mobile phone measuring 73mm long when folded, no more than your favourite lipstick.  The ladies may easily confuse it for their compact make-up powder.

  • Its faceted case sports a 2” QVGA LCD screen that acts as a compact mirror.  A dedicated key switches between the two even in the middle of a phone task so you can check your looks when you have to.  Now you know the market that Sony Ericsson Jalou is aiming at.
  • It’s a quad band GSM and triband UMTS supporting high speed 3G.
  • This is the first Sony Ericsson handset to boast an integrated step-counter called WalkMate.  Use it to monitor how many steps you’ve taken when taking a walk.  Great to use when jogging.
  • It supports Google apps and social networking sites, Exchange and a NetFront internet browser with YouTube support.
  • There’s 3.2 megapixel camera with geo-tagging, video light and video recording.
  • It’s got the usual WalkMan music player, stereo FM, Bluetooth with A2DP support,

The Jalou is clearly a very capable fashion phone that won’t be left behind the competition.

Dolce & Gabbana Dresses It Up

In addition, a limited edition Jalou gets spruced up by famed fashion house Dolce & Gabbana to make it an expensive fashion accessory.  The Sony Ericsson Jalou limited edition ends up with a 24-Karat Gold trim on an elegant rose color body and comes with a special earphone, a D&G bag and other exclusive items in its sales package.  Not to mention an exclusive price tag to go.

With handsets in the Android, Windows Mobile and Symbian platforms, it looks like 2009 is a revitalized year for Sony Ericsson with excellent marketing direction and bright future for the company.
