Sony Ericsson Xperia X2: Faster, More Powerful Experience?

SE-Xperia-X2The Sony Ericsson Xperia X2 hasn’t even been officially unveiled yet but already, mobile addicts have been openly salivating over the device. The Japanese-Swedish company has remained mum on details about their newest device but there are reports of what features the X2 will be packing.
Improvements Over the X1
For starters, it looks like the Xperia X2 will be a speedier unit than the earlier X1 model and its performance much more solid owing to a faster processor. The RAM of the phone will be at 512MB, a step-up certainly from the X1’s 400MB capacity. A removable microSD card slot is also available on this phone. Screen size will be at 3.5 inches with OLED technology, again, an improvement over the X1’s TFT display. The OLED screen also comes with an accelerometer.

The operating system utilised on the X2 will be the Windows Mobile version 6.5 platform although the OS will not be released until later this year. Chances are, the X2 will be available around that time as well.
Improved Panel Technology
Enhanced Panel interface technology is also in the works for this mobile, if it is even possible or necessary to improve on this component. The Panels feature on the X1 was a well-loved feature – what other phone offers you multiple homescreens to choose from? It’s impossible to get bored with a feature such as this.
Other Features to Look Forward To
The Xperia X2 also boasts of an 8.1 megapixel camera with autofocus as well as a GPS navigation system. It is also rumoured that the Xperia X2 will support PS3 remote play capability which should be wonderful news for gamers.

The Xperia X2 looks very similar to thei Noka N97 and it would be interesting to see if these phones will go head to head with each other. An issue with the previous Xperia model was the hefty price tag which makes me wonder if Sony Ericsson will price the X2 a tad closer to the N97.
