Showing Some Green Love: The Sony Ericsson C901 GreenHeart

Sony-Ericsson-C901-greenheartSony Ericsson has recently unveiled the pioneer product in their GreenHeart line—the Sony Ericsson C901 GreenHeart. This is one of the greenest mobiles in the market as it includes eco-friendly features such as an electronic user manual that saves up to 90% in the use of paper, a more compact packaging, and a casing that is made of around 50% recycled plastics.
Walk the Walk
Have you been talking the talk about doing your bit to save the planet? Well, here’s your chance to walk the walk—literally, that is. With the C901’s new Walkmate feature, users will be able to monitor the steps they take when they walk around with this device. This is then compared to the equivalent distance if you were to travel by car. The information is integrated with the CO2 Footprint Calculator that will show you how much Carbon Dioxide you are saving by choosing to walk instead of driving. The Ecomate application on the other hand will help users make greener and eco-friendly choices in their everyday activities.
A Bonus
Sony-Ericsson-C901-greenheartAs an added bonus the C901 will also come with a MH300 GreenHeart headset—an environment friendly headset that is primarily composed of 100% recycled plastics.
The C901 was released in the second quarter of 2009 and is currently valued at around £200.
Joining the Battle
Sony Ericsson has followed in the footsteps of other mobile phone manufacturers in their battle to save the environment (also see the Nokia 311 Evolve or the Motorola 233 Renew). With this new line of products the company intends to do its part in conserving what’s left of Mother Nature. They had this to say about the C901 (and the Sony Ericsson Naite GreenHeart):
"The GreenHeart concept is a key pillar in Sony Ericsson’s revitalised product portfolio strategy and the sustainable innovations found in the GreenHeart pioneer products will eventually roll out into the broader portfolio. Both new GreenHeart phones build on Sony Ericsson’s industry leading ‘green core’, the result of a long standing commitment to eliminate the use of hazardous chemicals from the product design and manufacturing process.”
