The Green Initiative
The upcoming Sony Ericsson Naite GreenHeart is part of the company’s new initiative to reduce their CO2 emissions by 20% come 2015. Moreover they also want to reduce the company’s emission of greenhouse gas by 15%. As a sign of their commitment to this cause the company has released two new eco-friendly devices that aim to help save the environment—welcome the Naite and the Sony Ericsson C901 GreenHeart.The Naite’s Role
The Naite will play a crucial role in Sony Ericsson’s desire to be a greener company. It is a pioneer in the line of GreenHeart products as it brings with it a number of eco-friendly features. Aside from being made of 50% recycled plastics, the Naite will also include a low-power battery charger, an electronic user guide (say goodbye to the paper-based manual), and loads of environment-friendly applications. Thanks to these efforts the CO2 footprint of the Naite is 15% smaller than that of other more conventional mobile devices such as the Sony Ericsson C902 Cybershot, for instance.
More than Just an Eco-Friendly Mobile
However, being an eco-friendly device doesn’t necessarily mean that design or functionality has to be compromised. The Naite is indeed testament to this fact. Sony Ericsson’s Marketing Head Josh Oxspring mentioned that “Naite is a phone that not only helps you to organise your life and work, it allows consumers to make an economical choice with the low-power charger and reduce their impact on the environment. Going green shouldn’t mean consumers have to sacrifice features or style so we’ve created a phone that is packed with impressive features such as high-speed 3G and Active desktop to help consumers manage their busy lives.”
With its one-touch button you can easily access a variety of functions such as contacts, the web, your calendar, or you messages. The high-speed browsing capabilities of the Naite combined with one-click Google access also means you can get online wherever and whenever you’d like.
Aside from having eco-friendly apps such as Ecomate and a Carbon Footprint calculator, the Naite will also work in both the 2G (GSM 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900) and 3G networks (HSDPA 850 / 1900 / 1200). Expect this mobile to be released come Q3 of 2009 with an estimated launch price of around £80.
