Be Fashionable with Sony Ericsson – The Jalou

Sony-Ericsson-JalouSony Ericsson seems to be making the right product moves this year.  The last quarter of the year will see another exciting new fashion phone that has been the subject of much anticipation and speculation under the “Jalou” code name. The internet is littered with enough product leaks from Sony Ericsson’s drawing boards to create a strong demand for the Jalou way ahead of its official release this month.

Not surprisingly, the launch of the Sony Ericsson Jalou opened up communications websites to post unofficial hands-on reviews that fuel further excitement over the product.

Another Fashion First

The Jalou sports a clamshell form sculpted with gem-like faceting on its body.  It weighs a handbag-friendly 84 grams and is no larger than 73 mm tall once folded.  Its 2-inch QVGA screen may not be much these days, but it doubles as a compact mirror with a flick of a dedicated key even in the middle of a task.  Now this is one feature that puts it in a unique position among fashion phones out there.

It’s also the first Sony Ericsson handset to feature the WalkMate pedometer that counts you steps if you decide to take a walk.  The Jalou will reach the markets in three jewelry colors: Onyx Black, Aquamarine Blue and Deep Amethyst.

The Sony Ericsson Jalou is foremost a fashion phone for the ladies.  That should be fairly obvious by now.  So don’t expect outstanding features reserved for flagship handsets. Apart from its so-so 2” screen, there’s also a 3.2 megapixel camera, video recording, a browser that supports YouTube and social networking applications, Bluetooth with A2DP, stereo FM radio with and its usual WalkMan player.  As a quad band GSM/GPRS/EDGE and a triband UMTS with 3G/HSDPA high speed connectivity support, the Jalou is definitely a very capable fashion phone.

Enter Dolce & Gabbana

No need to introduce Dolce & Gabbana.  You’ll see a limited edition Jalou sporting the D&G name and carrying a 24k gold trim on a sparkling rose color body. It naturally gets a special packaging with D&G items and a special headphone, not to mention a special price tag not everyone can afford.
