Nokia-2730-classicNokia’s intention to join the race for the best entry level to mid-range mobiles has been made clear by their release of three new affordable models all falling under the 100-pound mark. Given that the Nokia 7020 and the Nokia 2720 Fold are both flip phones some believe that among the 3, the Nokia 2730 Classic perhaps possesses the best design. It’s sleek and slim styling combined with a sizable colour display makes it a very reasonable handset for an estimated launch price of around £70.

The Mobile
The dimensions of the 2730 are 109.6 x 46.9 x 14.4 and it weighs only 87.7 grams. Once released towards the latter part of May, users can choose between two colours: dark magenta or black. It also has a 2-inch 240 x 320-pixel TFT colour display that can accommodate up to 256K colours. Aside from a stylish standard keypad, the 2730 is also equipped with a 5-way navigation key to make it easier for users to go through the menu. The standard Li-Ion battery of the 2730 is quite impressive as it will last up to 17 days on standby and will provide more than 7 hours of talk time.

According to Nokia the 2730 Classic is currently the cheapest 3G mobile in the market as it will work in UMTS 900 and UMTS 2100. On the 2G network it is compatible with GSM 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900.

Features & Functions
The 2730’s camera is so-so at only 2 Megapixels. You can store your photos on the mobile’s 30MB internal memory or opt to add a microSD external memory card of up to 2GB. You can choose to listen to its FM radio or your favourite MP3’s either through the 2730’s loudspeaker or plug in a standard headphone to its 3.5mm audio jack.

Aside from having SMS and MMS capabilities, the Nokia 2730 Classic also has support for EMS and email. You can also surf the net using its WAP 2.0 xHTML browser with Java support.
