Nokia 5800 Navigation EditionFinland-based world leader in mobile phones Nokia has released a re-touched 5800 Xpress Music smartphone with the new Nokia 5800 Navigation Edition.  It’s essentially your 5800 without the Comes With Music apps but gets a sophisticated GPS feature that put among the best GOC handsets in the market. Nokia drops the Xpress Music branding as it comes preloaded with a lifetime license for a voice-driven GPS navigational system with the latest reloaded Ovi Maps that give its users pinpoint accuracy of where they want to go. It also provides weather and traffic situation updates literally at your fingertips.

Excellent Multimedia Features

The Nokia 5800 Navigation Edition sports the same basic Nokia 5800 touchscreen smartphone features. With only the pre-installed Comes With Music apps taken out, you still get excellent multimedia features that start with a gorgeous 3.2” TFT resistive touchscreen display supporting 24-bit 16 million color depth.  You get the same media players and the stereo FM radio with RDS.  It has Bluetooth with A2DP support for wireless stereo earphones. Rounding it off is a 3.15 megapixel autofocus camera with Carl Zeiss optics and VGA video recording at 30 fps.  A secondary VGA camera is at the front for 3G video calls.

Competitive Smartphone Features

The Nokia 5800 Navigation Edition is a quad band GSM/GPRS/EDGE with 3G/HSDPA/HSUPA that enable no-wait browsing and downloading online.  It runs on the same proven  Symbian OS S60 release 5.0. It has Bluetooth 2,1 + EDR and Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g for fast wireless local data transfers at 54 Mbps.

There’s proximity sensor that turns off the touchscreen when putting the handset against your face in a call and accelerometer for automatic landscape or portrait viewing orientation. You get a generous 128 MB of internal memory upgradeable to 16GB with a microSD slot.

Expected to arrive this October in European markets at a price point of €285, the new Nokia 5800 Navigation Edition comes with a, 8 GB microSD card, a car charger and a car mounting kit for handsfree operation.
