Nokia 5230: Another Good Touchscreen Phone

The Nokia 5230 looks to be another good touchscreen phone that will surely appeal to a number of consumers, especially those that are young, or young at heart. Although there is nothing that can deem it great, it still has enough functionality and style to at least be differentiated from other touchscreen phones. This is crucial in a crowded market; anything that allows you to stand out is a definite plus and this mobile phone has enough features to allow it to do so.

The Fun Design

The Nokia 5230 comes in a variety of fun back cover colors that certainly adds a dimension of youth that other touchscreen phones lack. It comes in a 111.0 mm x 51.7 mm x 15.5 mm body that weighs 115 grams (including battery). On the front, it has the 3.2-inch touchscreen (360 x 640 pixels) that can display beautifully photos and videos. Although the front is simple, its back cover does inject additional life to this otherwise lifeless design.

Multimedia Fun

The Nokia 5230 also has a wide range of functions and applications that should make people fairly contented. It has all the basic features like a vibration mode, SMS and MMS capabilities, a To-do List, changeable games, a calendar, an alarm, a calculator, voice dialing and even voice memo. It also comes with a built-in 2.0 MP camera (up to 1600 x 1200 pixels for photos, and 640 x 360 pixels, 30 frames per second for videos).

But the best thing about this mobile phone is its music player that supports a wide range of music file formats that can be accessed straight from the main screen (eliminating the need to launch a music player application). Add a video player, document viewer (MS Word, MS PowerPoint, and MS Excel files), and instant access to the likes of MySpace and Facebook.

Nokia has certainly developed a good mobile phone that the young will especially like. It may not be perfect but it is good enough.
