The New Touchscreen Smartphone from LG – the GM730

LG GM730After much anticipation since its February announcement at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona last February, Korean LG has finally released this August the LG GM730 touchscreen smartphone.  Coming with a slew of competitive smartphone features targeted at the business crowd wanting sophisticated fashion mobile phone features, the new handset from LG won’t disappoint, although much of these vaunted features feel more like they are meant for 2008 than 2009.

High End Features

  • The LG GM730 is a quad band GSM/GPRS/EDGE and a tri-band UMTS with 3G/HSDPA/HSUPA high speed data connectivity for no-wait browsing, messaging and downloading over the internet.
  • It runs on the Windows Mobile 6.1 and can soon be upgraded to the more powerful Windows Mobile 6.5 Pro for true multi-tasking and desktop-like browsing and emailing performance.
  • LG’s S-Class user interface is among the most intuitively designed interface that can be customized using 3rd party apps to a level of personalization that’s remarkable for a smartphone.
  • It sports a gorgeous 3“ QVGA TFT touchscreen display with 65k color depth support.
  • It has stereo FM radio with RDS receiver and a 3.5mm headphone jack for your preferred hi-fi home stereo headphones.
  • It sports Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR with A2DP support for using wireless stereo earphones.
  • It has Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g for wireless local data connectivity at 54 Mbps.
  • It’s got a built-in GPS/A-GPS with its own internal antenna and complementary GPS service. Geo-tagging is supported for its imaging feature.
  • It’s got a 5 megapixel autofocus camera.  VGA recording is at a near-film quality of 24 frames per second.  It sports a secondary front-facing VGA camera for 3G video calls.

It has an internal memory with nearly unlimited phone entries that can be expanded up to 16GB with its microSD expansion slot.
