A Revolution in Imaging: The LG Louvre GC990

lg_gc990_louvreA few years back, the world was in awe when the Sony Ericsson Cyber-shot was released with its 3.2-Megapixel camera. Back then, we were amazed at how technology was advancing so quickly that a mobile phone could also function as a digital camera. And now, only a couple of years later, we have witnessed a true revolution in technology with the advent of mobile phones with astounding 12-Megapixel cameras. After Samsung’s Pixon 12 and Sony Ericsson’s Satio, it’s now LG’s turn to join in on the fun with the new LG Louvre GC990.

These new mobile phones have almost become digital cameras with mobile features as opposed to mobiles with built-in cameras. For the Louvre GC990, its camera will be equipped with a boatload of striking features and functions. Aside from the basics such as autofocus, smile, face & blink detection, and an LED flash, the GC990’s camera will also sport other innovative features including geo-tagging, a secondary Xenon flash, Schneider-Kreuznach optics, digital zoom, image stabilization, and ISO control.

The GC990’s claim to fame is its successful combination of such a powerful camera and HD video recording – a feat that is not equaled by other 12-Megapixel camera mobiles in the market today. The GC990 is able to capture high definition videos at 30 fps and a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels.

Other Features

Aside from its ground-breaking camera technology, there’s more in store for GC990 users. A 3.2-inch TFT touch screen (with handwriting recognition), a GPS receiver (with A-GPS support), and video calling capabilities are just a few of them. The LG Louvre GC990 will also support EDGE, GPRS, UMTS, HSDPA, and HSUPA. Connecting to the internet via Wi-Fi will also be possible on this device as it will also sport WLAN capabilities.
