HTC Leo: A New Touchscreen Smartphone

htc-leoA Fairly Good Release

The HTC Leo is a new Touchscreen Smartphone that really does not have anything that special about it. It does not have a high-level camera, or an above par multimedia capability to differentiate itself from other mobile phones in the market. On its own, this mobile phone is not a bad one. It looks fine, although it does look a little plain, and its functions are also at par with other mobile phones. The problem is that phones are not considered in isolation and if this were placed next to an Apple Iphone 3G S, it would pale in comparison.

The Design

The HTC Leo comes with a 121 x 67 x 11 mm body that houses a 1,230-mAh battery (which will probably not have the same battery-life as other mobile phones), and a 4.3-in capacitive touchscreen. This screen has a display of 480 x 800 pixels. As a whole, the design is fairly simple. There are no sharp edges, and unless it does have a back cover design other than the plain black one, it is pretty much a regular touchscreen phone. In terms of design, it has nothing special or new to offer.

The Function

The HTC Leo runs on Windows Mobile 6.5 and has HSDPA / WiFi connectivity, support for Bluetooth 2.1+EDR, as well as A-GPS. It also comes with a 5.0-megapixel camera (dual LED flash), 520 MB internal memory, 320 MB RAM, a 3.5 mm headphone jack and a microSD card slot. It also has a powerful processor (1GHz Snapdragon processor), comes with an accelerometer, a light sensor, and a motion sensor.

As one can see, there is nothing that really stands out and catches your attention. This might be a good mobile phone but it certainly is not a great one, which might hurt it in the end.
