Android Powered Acer A1 Release

Acer A1The mobile phone manufacturer’s first Android powered smartphone will soon be on shelves around the UK, with pre orders already open for both France and Germany.

The Acer A1 handset will come with Android 2.0, even though that particular version of the operating system has still not been officially announced, (unlike its predecessor, the Acer F1, which ran the Windows Mobile 6.5 operating system.) The mobile phone’s CPU is a Qualcomm 8250 which runs at 768 MHz – reportedly making it the most powerful processor to date to be paired up with the Android operating system.

The mobile phone features a 3.5 inch touch screen with WVGA resolution and measures 115 x 62.5 x 3.5 mm with a weight of 135g. The Acer A1 also boasts Wi Fi support, a GPS navigation system, an inbuilt 5 mega pixel camera, the stock standard 3.5 mm headphone jack along with a microSD card slot to allow for additional memory.

There is also some additional specifications available, including that the Acer A1 Android based mobile phone handset features a talk time of up to 300 minutes, or a standby time of up to 400 hours, which is approximately 16 and a half days. The device also has Bluetooth 2.0.

It is expected we will see pre orders open up for the UK sometime in October, so stay tuned as we will be sure to post an update along with some specifics on the price of the handset itself and available contracts and carriers, as well as whether or not the mobile phone will be available outright or on pay as you go.
