Binatone’s Android Phone is a Landline

The Binatone iHomePhone does not have a built-in, digital camera. It lacks assistive GPS support and capabilities, and lastly, the device does not support the use of SIM cards –making it unable to access 3G networks.

So what’s the big deal?

This is a landline. While it may seem pretty pointless to use an operating system like the Google Android on a landline, the Binatone iHomePhone is a pretty practical device to have around. First off, it functions as a basic cordless landline –allowing users to enjoy their home phone conversations and still have the freedom to move around.

The wireless device packs a 2.8 inch touch screen display that can be used to access the phone’s contacts list and the rest of the Android’s features, such as web browsing, apps and games. Media playback is definitely one of the best functions on the device –with the dock serving as the main speakers.

No 3G is definitely fine, as the phone will be situated at a home or office setting, then this would mean that WiFi accessibility should always be available. The same idea goes for the lack of A-GPS capabilities. There is no point in adding in features that owners will not be able to use.

Lastly, the phone also has a very nice price tag –at £99.99, this phone will certainly be a great addition to any home. Of course, Android smart phones do not have to fear competition from this budget device –it is not a competitor at all, being a landline in the first place. But this is a definite must have for any Android fan. Even if the Google Android operating system on the device is never updated (it uses 1.6 Donut) it still makes for a pretty impressive media hub and home phone device.
