According to online retailer, Play.com, the Nokia N8 smart phone is now available for pre-orders and will be sent out to buyers starting on October 10.
That is probably the farthest delayed launch to ever be announced when it comes to mobile phones. Originally, Nokia intended to have the N8 smart phone to be available in store shelves by April of this year. But for reasons unknown, the device has been delayed constantly, being pushed back month after month.
The end of July seemed like a pretty good moment for the Nokia N8 development team as they announced an end of August launch and for the first time in weeks, considerable time has passed without any updates stating another delay. Sadly, that did not last long, earlier this week, it has been stated that the device would not be available until September. Now, the little update from Play.com makes us wonder if even the newly stated October launch would even stick.
Ironically, the constant delays regarding the Nokia N8 Symbian^3 smart phone is making us forget one little detail: the fact that the upcoming Nokia N9 is nowhere to be found. It was originally announced that the N9 would be released around this time and with all the fuss with the N8’s release, it seems that the MeeGo based N9 might have been pushed back as well.
The current re-order price for the N8 is currently around 420 Pounds Sterling; it is a pretty decent price tag for those who do not mind the fact that the device will take a while to be available. In terms of specs, the N8 is a decent investment: the device is a mid range smart phone that packs an impressive 12 mega pixel camera and 720p HD quality video recording.
