Tweet Reveals Milestone Froyo Update in the Works

Just a while back, it was revealed that the Android 2.2 Froyo update for the Motorola Milestone is coming pretty soon. The tweet came directly from the official account of the German O2 network and teasing the mobile industry regarding the 2.2 update for both the Motorola Milestone and the HTC Desire.

According to the Tweet, the Desire is getting an update this August while Milestone users will have to wait for next month, September, before the update becomes available. For those who might recall, Google and HTC already launched the update for the Desire (and also the Wildfire) just a week ago –placing UK’s update release dates a little earlier than that of Germany’s. And in that line of thinking, there is a possibility that the Motorola Milestone update will be ready by late August.

In any case, it is confirmed that Milestone owners will be able to enjoy the latest version of the OS soon enough –making the keyboard toting Android smart phone truly worth having.

Of course, all the excitement over the new Google mobile platform update comes with good reason, and this is because of the OS upgrade that version 2.2 brings. More often than not, an update for any firmware is certain to add some bug fixes or additional new factors that would upgrade the OS to a whole new level. Take the previous fix for the Sony Ericsson Satio, Aino and Kita handsets. Not only did it fix a firmware issue with the Satio, but it also streamlined battery consumption for all three devices.

The Android Froyo has no major issues to fix, but it still is an important update because it gives a boost in performance speed. While some people might scoff at such a simple notion, it should be noted that Froyo makes the Android UI about 2-3 times faster and browsing the web has been reported to be up to five times faster (barring connection speed issues of course).
