Android Update for Galaxy S Leaked

If there is one thing more exciting that the Google Android operating system, it is the updates for the Google Android operating system. Each major update of the open source mobile platform brings plenty of new features, improved performance and a whole host of new things that users can do with their mobile phones.

Currently, the latest version of the Android operating system available for download on most mobile phones is the 2.1 Éclair operating system (which was recently released for HTC Hero owners –so for those of you who own a Hero handset, now is the best time to update), and the 2.2 Froyo, despite being officially launched by Google, is currently only available for the Google branded Nexus One smart phone.

According to reports, the Samsung i9000 Galaxy S is still awaiting an official update to Android 2.2 when the leaked update came out. While the leak is not a complete version –it apparently lacks support for Flash content, it is already useable and is going to bring the current Galaxy S OS to top form.

And by top form, we mean speedy fast. It may seem exaggerated, but speed is a serious issue for Android smart phones. Sure, the user interface is already smooth and efficient, but the update to Froyo provides a serious boost that turns the user experience into something completely new. To give an idea on how fast that UI is, anyone who started with using a Nexus One running Android 2.2 would feel that the OS is slow and lag-ish when using the HTC Desire running Android 2.1.

A word of warning to all Samsung i9000 Galaxy S owners, the leaked update is not sanctioned by Google or by Samsung, and thus, using it could possibly void the store and manufacturer warranty on the handset. Also, it is possible that the installation might cause some unwanted side effects on your device.
