The Windows Phone 7 OS has taken the attention of many smart phone users. Since Steve Ballmer made his presentation at the Mobile World Congress, it has been hard to imagine that the once business-like and cold user interface of the older Windows Mobile OS could ever be something more. Technically, the WinMo OS is still the same. But Microsoft’s mobile development team has shown that they can do so much more.
The new Windows Phone 7 OS is geared towards the general public. Combining UI customization with plenty of useful features and social networking integration, the WP7 OS is setting itself as the new iOS for the next generation. They have brought in Zune, Bing, Xbox Live Games, the new MSN player, Silverlight and plenty of other new features; Microsoft just might succeed.
According to the recent reports, the new OS is being developed ahead of schedule as evidenced by a leaked document stating that retailers should prepare for a possible September launch date for the first batch of WP7 devices.
So far, it was originally believed that October would be the month of the big launch, but if Microsoft plans to deliver the WP7 OS earlier, then all the more reason to be excited for the new mobile platform.
LG seems to be on top of the news. With the LG Panther already ready for the new OS, it seems that LG might have a couple more devices up their sleeve. For now, it is not confirmed if the C900 and E900 are real devices, or if they are: is the Panther one of the two? The Korean phone maker has yet to make a comment on the new rumor.
Another Korean phone manufacturer, Samsung, has confirmed that the upcoming SGH i707 is a Windows Phone 7 handset.
