HTC Assures that Froyo will be Out Before Christmas

android-froyoHTC fans around the world will have to settle for the existing Android version 2.1 for now. Due to the rigorous testing procedures which are mandatory for every patch release, Desire, Legend and Wildfire users will just have to keep their older OS versions for a few more months.

According to Erin Lin, the online community manager and global PR at HTC, they are still making sure that the available ‘Droid apps and existing mobile phone hardware all run smoothly on each of the devices using the new operating system. That takes a significant amount of time, but since the changes are not too drastic on the Froyo, there is a chance that it can be done in a few months.

“I don’t think you’re going to see that really long six, seven month lag, like you saw in the updates from 1.5 to 2.1. Switching from 2.1 to 2.2, they made a lot of tweaks, but they didn’t make any gigantic changes, so it should be a much swifter process”.

However, with Gingerbread looming in the distance, consumers may have a hard time swallowing the delay. Would all the waiting be in vain? Well, HTC assures that everything will be polished and ready just in time for Christmas.

Besides, considering that fact that Google has not even released an official list of what is in store in their next platform upgrade, it may be better to just take everything in a stride and enjoy whatever Froyo has to offer. It seems that it is going to take a while before the next version of the little green robot gets a public debut.

At the very least, all these tests being conducted must mean that we can expect the updates to work flawlessly on the Android powered mobile phones. And that may just make everyone’s holiday season full of cheer.
