As impressive as it is to own the latest and the best smart phones available in the market, there is a slowly growing drive and recognition for owning mobile phones that have been made in a different manner: earth friendly.
Mobile phones were never made to be good for the environment, from the plastic in the casing to the TFT touch screens to the batteries, phones are simply made of parts that were designed without regard for the environment. However, the growing need for things to go green means that even the mobile industry has to do its part –and with the large amount of waste mobile phones that are added into scrap heaps each year, it is a big part to fill.
Sony Ericsson has been trying to lead the mobile phone industry towards a greener future with its many eco friendly policies. The best part of it all is that their programs are not just to attract attention, but are heavily followed and enforced even within their own company.
The Greenheart series of mobile handsets is a series of phones that are made of recycled plastics and non toxic chemicals. The most remarkable thing about them is than in regards to form and function, these phones are no less than non-eco friendly counterparts. The series has been quite successful, with already three devices in series for this year and one that has been leaked in rumors; it shows that the world is recognizing the need for more green devices.
The SE Hong is the newest Greenheart handset. According to sources, the device will be a standard candy bar mobile phone that is not unlike the Greenheart Elm. Expect to see more of this mobile phone in the next few weeks as Sony Ericsson reveals the rest of the details about this device.
