SE’s W150 Might not be Running Android

sony-ericsson-logoIt seems that the initial reports on the W150 TeaCake from Sony Ericsson were a bit premature when it came to the handset’s operating system. Despite the fact that the device looked very much alike the X10 Mini, it seems that there is possibility that this handset will not be running the Android operating system.

The sad news of this possibility has come out just right after several new images of the handset’s user interface have been shown. While it does not clearly specify that the OS will not be the Google Android operating system, there is a very high probability that the handset might be using a completely new custom OS. If this is true however, then it is likely that the device will just be a standard mobile device as opposed to a smart phone.

sony-ericsson-x10-mini-proAndroid fans are most certainly disappointed at this announcement as the bringing together of the Walkman technology to the Android OS would have certainly been something to look forward to –and anyone who has not gone for an X10 Mini could simply opt to get the W150 (if they do not like the QWERTY toting X10 Mini Pro that is). Now, it seems that the mid to low range Android handset choices has lost one very tempting option.

With Sony Ericsson still refusing to make an official announcement about the TeaCake, all the news is now up in the air –and this has certainly been a major annoyance for anyone planning to buy a cheap phone soon.

In any case, there are least two other handsets from Sony Ericsson that will be using the Android operating system: the XEPRIA Shakira and another nameless smart phone. Both handsets were revealed along with the W150 TeaCake in a series of leaked images of SE devices.
