Nokia is bringing 4 new handsets to the UK and no, they are not smart phones. The C-series of handsets border more on the super Spartan aesthetics of mobile phone design than what we are normally seeing of today’s new releases. Still, it is nice to see that there are still plenty of practical backup handsets to fall back on in the 2G market.
First up the list is the C1 series, under this line, there are three handsets numbered C1-00, C1-01 and C1-02.
The C1-00 is unique from the other two as it actually allows users to strap in two SIM cards in the phone. Sadly, unlike other dual SIM devices, only one line will be active at any given time. Users will have the option of switching between the two SIM cards using an instant switch in the phone’s menu system. Initial quotes for the price of the C1-00: an affordable 30 Euros.
The C1-01 and the C1-02 mobile phones are pretty much alike in terms of looks, style and features. The only difference between the two is that the C102 does not have the VGA camera that is present in the C1-01. These two devices are basic 2G handsets, so users might want to go with the C1-00 since the 01 and 02 are more expensive at 39 and 35 Euros respectively.
Last on our list of Nokia C-series devices is the impressive dual SIM handset, the C2. This mobile phone brings together SD card support, GPRS, Bluetooth, FM radio, a 3.5 mm audio jack, a VGA camera and of course support for two sim cards. Both SIM are active and users will be able to hot-swap one SIM at any given time –a technological first for mobile phones. The handset is reported to have a retail cost of 45 Euros.
