Mobile network operators are encouraging their customers to make use of the online stores that are made available to them. Pre-orders and early device shipments are among the many incentives made available, there is also the fact that you do not need to leave the comfort of your own home in order to make the purchase.
But with smart phones costing several hundred pounds a piece, some find it hard to simply tick the check box and lick on the shopping cart to approve of an online service. Simply put, the current generation of shoppers is too used to the security and assurance of being able to check out the device before heading to the counter.
This is why the new Best Buy that just opened locally in the UK is doing well in terms of sales. While the digital age is already upon us, the concept of shopping still remains the same. The only department that retailers such as Best Buy actually have trouble with is with electronics.
Online, there are plenty of stores that offer electronics for a significantly lower price than on Best Buy (though some shipping costs have proved to be exorbitant). Instead of competing in price, Best Buy has opted to make full use of its physical resources: a store and employees. The staff of Best Buy is well versed in the many intricacies of the products they have on shelves –allowing them to assist and provide buyers with accurate information. This also provides consumers with that much needed assurance.
They are also offering a service that will load up your newly purchased iPhone or gadget with a bulk of useful apps or applicable software that would allow you to make full use of the product the moment you step off the store.
It will be a while before the retail industry is able to switch to online, and even then, brick and mortar stores will continue to persist.
