Aino Delayed, Affects UK Sales for Sony Ericsson

Sony Ericsson AinoThe new Sony Ericsson Aino is reported to be having problems and has been suspended from being sold in the UK.

To say that Sony Ericsson is having troubles would be an understatement. The company has not reported a good financial gain since 2008; many can obviously see that the company needs to come up with better products for the mobile phone market. In fact, the financial setback is bad enough that Sony Ericsson’s North American operations have been moved to Atlanta following the closure of several offices –including the Miami offices. Even outside of the United States, SE facilities have been shut down. It has been reported that the company had to let go of about 2000 employees.

With Christmas just around the corner, Sony Ericsson’s products need to make a good profit; but with the SE Satio already having been pulled out from stores, having a second device pulled out just spells trouble for the company.

About a week back, the Sony Ericsson Satio started experiencing software and battery problems that were linked to the Sony interface used on the S60 OS. Carphone Warehouse and Phones4U suspended the sales when there was no solution in sight for their clients. Most complaints were about the phone lagging badly, crashing, powering down and the occasional missing ring tones.

While the Aino is also suffering from software issues, the number of occurrences is apparently on a more manageable scale. Officials for Sony state that “it is contained issue affecting only a small number of consumers”. No confirmation has been given on what the exact problems are, but reports indicate that it revolved around the touch screen and also with the Bluetooth functions of the device.

Sony has yet to release any information if and when they will have a patch ready that would fix the issues.
