ACER Liquid to Launch on December

Acer LiquidHere’s a good combination, an Android operating system and a Snapdragon 1 GHz processor. That same combination is bringing the Sony Ericsson XPERIA X10 plenty of waiting fans; now it is more or less the same scenario for the soon to arrive, ACER Liquid.

Well, the big compromise with the Liquid is that the 8250 processor is under clocked to 768 MHz, much faster than the average smart phone, but still a sizeable chunk of speed slower than 1GHz. No word has been given on why the Liquid has be made as such, but some believe that the excess speed is un-needed and that the phone already runs as fast as it would even with a 1GHz processor.

Anyway, this touch screen phone sports a good 5 mega pixel camera that produces very crisp and clear images. The display is a 3.5” WVGA touch screen, it is not as bright as the screen on other touch phones –even at the highest settings it only appears to have about the normal brightness of other devices.

This quad band GSM/tri band HSDPA device sports a good variety of media file support, and the usual 3G smart phone functions such as micro USB, Bluetooth, GSM and a whole host of useful applications on the Android such as Google Talk, Google Mail and Google Maps.

Right now, electronic retailer Clove has the item listed as available for pre-order and interested buyer can get the device for 328.90 Pounds (including VAT). Sadly, the only color offered is white, ACER has yet to confirm if this phone will be made available in other colors. Despite having a good processor, this device still falls behind the Motorola Milestone in some ways; mostly due to the fact that the Milestone uses the Android 2.0 Éclair, while the Liquid only has the 1.6 Donut.
